A traditional Jain family, for whom we initially designed a residence 25 years ago, has now entrusted us with a comprehensive renovation, guided by the next generation. Having gained a deep understanding of their evolving needs, we were granted creative freedom, working within the primary constraint of the site—a wall-to-wall plot with limited natural ventilation.
The design concept centers on enhancing the existing Oxygen Garden, with its two key green spaces serving as pivotal focal points for visual connectivity throughout the home. These spaces are thoughtfully integrated to promote a seamless interaction between the interior and exterior environments.
To address the challenges of inadequate ventilation and the site’s constricting walls, we introduced a linear garden running parallel to the house, strategically incorporated into the -interior vistas. This design solution not only ensures that greenery remains a constant visual presence from every vantage point but also effectively mitigates the linearity of the plot, creating a greater sense of spatial openness and tranquility within the home.
